UKIERI PTS Workshop January 2008

To facilitate partnerships between UK and India colleges, UKIERI held a week long partnership workshop in Delhi on 29 January 2008. The workshop participants from India and UK were selected through an open and competitive assessment process and matched through their industry sector interest.

Prof Prasad Krishna from National Board of Accreditation, India and Rituparna Chakraborty from Team Lease provided information to participants on Quality Assurance and the Vocational Education System in India. Linda Schoefield from National Skills Academy Financial Services, UK, provided information on the UK Vocational Education System and UK Skills Academies which are new models of public private partnerships which will closely with employers to meet their needs in job ready skills.

The workshop provided a platform to the proposed India/UK partners and to initiate project ideas and explore common areas of interest. The UK participants also had the opportunity of visiting Indian Partner Institutes in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune. We received encouraging feedback from the participants and they felt that the workshop was enriching, informative and gave a clearer picture of the strand.
