British Council & UKIERI in partnership with Ministry of Labour and Employment organized a roundtable discussion on ‘Sector Skills Council: From Policy to Implementation' on 22 August 2009 at Hotel Imperial, New Delhi.
A group of key policy makers, implementers and influencers participated in the discussions. The day long sessions focussed on the Indian Skills scenario and the role of SSC, how formation of SSCs will reduce skill gaps and shortages, improve productivity, on areas like funding, governance, delivery industry integration and issues for the SSCs.
The UK experience was shared by the Chief Executive of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills–Mr. Chris Humphries and CEO of Improve Ltd – Mr. Jack Matthews, giving an overview of SSCs in UK, the best practices adopted and the challenges faced.
