Call for bids for travel grants for preparation of Professional and Technical Skills Partnership proposals

Professional & Technical Skills strand of UKIERI announces the bids for travel grant funding to the UK and Indian institutions for the scoping exercise to facilitate the development and delivery of Vocational and Technical Skills through institutional partnerships.

In order to assist Indian and UK colleges in forming new partnerships and preparing their applications for the full award, travel grants to the tune of £1,500 are being offered.

The travel grant bids and the full award for development of collaborations/partnership will be required to target skills gaps in three industry sectors which are of strategic importance to India and the UK :

- Financial Skills:       banking; insurance; securities and actuarial services

- Creative Industry: fashion; textiles; film/television; media and animation

- Petrochemicals:       chemical engineering; chemical & environmental technology

The 2008 call for travel grant bids is now open, and the deadline for submission of applications is 2 January 2009 .

A new call for partnership proposals under the Professional and Technical Skills strand of UKIERI will be published in December 2008.  UK Further Education colleges wishing to form sustainable partnerships with FE institutions in India will be sought.
