UKIERI- Key Achievements


The programme has achieved its targets set in the early days of 2006 and the achievements to date include: 

  • 6 Major Research Awards (of up to £500,000 each)
    Collaboration between UK and Indian centres of excellence to undertake high level research.
  • 67 Research Awards (of up to £150,000 each)
    Collaboration between UK and Indian Higher Education Institution to undertake high level research.
  • 30 DST- UKIERI Research Awards (of up to £150,000 each)
    Joint initiative supported by Department of Science & Technology for collaborations between UK and Indian Higher Education Institution to undertake high level research.
  • 20 Doctoral Scholarships
    Scholarships awarded to individuals for pursuing PhD in the UK .
  • 43 Post Doctoral Fellowships
    Fellowships awarded to individuals for pursuing 3-12 months of Post Doctoral research in the UK/India.
  • 27 Collaborative Programme Delivery (CPD) Awards
    Collaborations between UK and Indian institutions to facilitate development and delivery of the UK degrees and professional qualifications in India through these partnerships.
  • 88 Travel Grants
    Travel grants given to Institutions for the purpose of facilitating partnerships between Institutions of both countries in the areas of Higher Education and Professional and Technical skills.
  • 37 Cluster School Partnerships involving over 300 schools
    This strand of UKIERI has facilitated partnerships between clusters of schools in India and the UK to create life long relationship between young people in both the countries.
  • 14 Linkages in Professional and Technical Skills.
    Colleges were encouraged to work together on joint educational projects with an objective to meet industry skills gaps in three major focus areas: Financial Skills, Creative Industry and Petro Chemicals in both India and the UK .
  • 35 Events in policy dialogue and networking
    The initiative also ensured that both the countries are engaging in constructive dialogue on key policy issues to ensure harmony in the educational policies.
