FICCI organised a two-day Higher Education Summit on 'Innovation for Quality & Relevance' on 2 and 3 November 2007.
The aim of the Summit was to bring
together educationists, policy makers and corporates to define a road map for accelerating policy change and growth in Higher Education to establish India's leadership in knowledge economy.
UK, through the British Council, was the partner country for the Summit with UKIERI as the Co-Sponsor. Lord Chris Patten, Chancellor, Oxford University, UK, delivered the keynote address at the conference and 72 delegates from UK universities took active part in the summit.
UKIERI plenary session on 'Lessons from International Cooperation' was one of the key highlights of the FICCI HE Summit. The deliberations made at the session addressed the key concern areas of the Higher Education system with a predominant focus on the ways and means of improving Indian Higher Education and making it globally competitive. Other issues addressed during the session pertained to student mobility, benefits from international collaborations and lessons learnt.
UKIERI also organised close to 100 Business to Business (B2B) meetings between UK and Indian institutions to further accelerate partnership opportunity in Higher Education. |
