Leadership Development
Leadership development across Higher and Further Education, and Schools has been identified as a key area for collaboration for both India and the UK. The strand aims to work with the Indian Ministry of Human Resource and Development in providing the opportunities to teachers, faculty and senior staff from universities, colleges, other institutions and schools for capacity building with UK’s support.
The strand programmes are being developed with the Indian context and will work with current high performing heads in India and the UK to identify specific requirements for developing leadership capacities of individuals that would help in effective management of institutions and schools. The strand is focusing towards building and implementing a strategic plan to transform leadership and management in Indian schools, Higher Education and Further Education institutions.
The strand currently is focusing to work with state government schools, second tier universities and regional institutions to develop academic leadership programmes that provide core knowledge and skills required to become an effective leader. The strand is working with key Indian and UK stakeholders in Education sector across both countries like University Grants Commission (UGC), National College for School Leadership (NCSL), Universities UK (UUK), Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE), Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) etc to promote and contribute towards the implementation and delivery of specific programmes.
Key Objectives:
- To increase leadership capacity in schools and develop and deliver a programme that will support the Indian government in its mission to set up the centre for excellence for school leadership in India
- To develop an academic HE leadership programme that provides core knowledge and skills required to become an effective leader and link centre’s of excellence of Higher Education, both India and the UK
- To develop an academic FE leadership programme that provides knowledge and skills required for institutional leadership in Further Education institutions and colleges and thereby creating sustainable linkages between India and the UK FEIs
