
The main funding of the programme was focussed towards supporting research-oriented links between centres of excellence, in particular areas of science, technology, humanities and social sciences that are crucial for the future of both the countries.
The main aim of this strand was to significantly increase the level of engagement and collaboration between the UK and India in higher education and research and deliver in areas that are of priority economic, educational and technical interest to both countries.
The Higher Education strand has done well over the last five years with the announcement of 6 major research awards (of up to ₤500,000 each), 97 standard research awards (of up to ₤150,000 each), 20 PhD scholarships and 43 research fellowships.
