The UKIERI programme aims to facilitate the creation of strong partnerships and joint ventures that can take on various aspects of skills development for key sectors across locations and themes.

Two key areas of this strand are “Institutional Capacity Building” and “Collaborative Skills Support”. Skills Strand through these two sub strands will focus on enabling an increase in the level of engagement between our countries’ skills providers both at the level of Governance and training.

Collaborative skills support sub strand will facilitate partnerships between Sector Skills Councils in the UK and India. UK SSCs to build capacities of the Indian SSCs through these partnerships. These partnerships should lead the Indian SSCs to learn from the UK experience and customize those learning’s as per the Indian requirements.

Institutional Capacity Building sub strand is aimed at facilitating partnerships for enhancing the training capacity both for the learners and the trainers. UKIERI will facilitate partnerships between Further Education Colleges, vocational education providers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Delivery of the training should be in line with the industry needs and should be market driven.

 

Key Objectives:

To provide opportunities to organisations/consortia for training need identification and for delivery of training and setting up of Centers of Excellence in partnership with industry bodies/SMEs to ensure skills’ providers and other bodies in the UK and India are better equipped to work with each other.
To enable the development of a strong Indian sector skills infrastructure focusing on employer engagement approaches, developing curriculum and qualifications, certification and assessment etc.
To provide travel grants to facilitate partner finding and working on a full grant proposal.

• 1st Call for Bids for “Institutional Capacity Building”, “Collaborative Skills Support” and “Travel Grant” is already closed.
• 2nd Call for Bids for “Institutional Capacity Building” and “Collaborative Skills Support” to be announced soon.
