Enhancing Mobility strand aims to foster mobility of
students across India and the UK and to work on key areas like mutual
recognition of qualifications and credit transferability. The strand also
aims to strengthen cultural links between India and the UK by creating
mutual opportunities for student mobility. Institutional tie-ups to support
study tours, summer programmes and other short visit opportunities with
special emphasis on India’s heritage and culture are also being structured
in the programme delivery.
Activities under this strand will focus on developing programmes to
encourage Indian students to study Joint Master's or Doctoral qualifications
with UK universities along with supporting programmes to encourage UK
students to undertake study and work placements in India. Through these
student mobility programmes students would gain experience and greater
understanding of culture, education and economy of both countries.
The strand would also work towards the transferability and equivalence of
qualifications through recognition of learning and achievements. The strand
will also highlight key issues and challenges faced by the education sector
in both countries pertaining to mutual recognition and equivalence of
learning and achievement, and make recommendations through UKIERI framework
for mutual recognition. The strand will also learn from ongoing
collaborations on existing partnerships working specifically with credit
transfers and mutual recognition of learning and achievement across
HE/FE/school qualification systems.
